Israel has embraced the Internet, and leverages it for the greater success of the local economy. In parallel, the technology sector in Israel is playing a significant role in shaping the World Wide Web and its contribution and influence on local and global economies.
The McKinsey report published in 2010 estimates that the volume of the Israeli Internet economy in 2009 was ~50 billion NIS, representing ~6.4% of the Israeli GDP. By the year 2015, the volume of the Israeli Internet economy is expected to reach ~85 billion NIS, representing ~8.5% of GDP.
